What does it mean to live passed trauma & identity? How can we embrace an unimagined world of reconciliation & healing?
At the intersection of childhood memory, the emergence of sexuality, & the relentless search for connection with each other & the Divine, there exists a generative and hopeful space. The silence between these spaces sings with possibility.
My project is an exploration of this hopeful space, where the fiction of the past is overlayed with sexual desire & the search for the Beloved, nudging uncomfortably against political questions of identity, conformity, & assimilation.
The promise of legal rights, marriage equality & widespread assimilation has failed to deliver. Each gayman wherever he is on the planet, must endeavour to come to terms with the trauma of growing up gay in a homophobic world. every scar is a story is a collection of the stories of my gaymale brothers who continue to do so with courage, & heartfelt determination. It is my love & admiration for these men that brings me to the blank page each morning.
